So I decided to write one of those 101 in 1001 lists. When I first wrote it, it was more as something to do out of boredom than an actual challenge, but the more of the tasks I start, the more I am desperate to complete it. I realised whilst I was writing it, that some of the things I added were just there so that I could have some easy tasks, ones I know I will complete.
For example “visit the USA” is on the list, but so is “Go to a country outside of Europe”. I know this is kinda cheating, having two that can be completed in one go, (plus the fact I’m going to New York in December) but I was finding it so hard to actually complete the list. I never realised that writing the list in itself would be such a challenge.
As I was writing the list, however, I began to realise how much I have, how much is done for me, that I take for granted and probably don’t appreciate nearly as much as I should. Little things I was adding to the list, things like “Cook dinner for my family every day for a week” are a part of a challenge for me, but for a lot of people this is a part of their daily routine. I realised that I am no where near as grateful for things like this, things my parents do for me, as I should be.
Maybe that’s the reason people do challenges like this; not because they are bored or as something to do to pass the time, but on a more personal level. Maybe by doing this challenge, it will make me become a more selfless person and not take things for granted. To appreciate things I get that I don’t always deserve.
- Are you currently doing a 101 in 1001 challenge?
- Do you ever take things for granted, or realise that you don’t appreciate what you have?
I deeply apologize if I didn’t return one of your comments. I honestly can’t remember which one it was because I think I left you a bunch..? But I mean, whatever. If you still remember, shout it out to me & I will. I figured I finished all the old comments off & now I have new ones to attend to..although my internet is still paralyzed soooo jUST LETTING YOU KNOW..& I seriously want to effin’ start the damn siggy contest already, but my internet is stupid & it won’t let me upload anything. I tried using the cpanel file manager dealio, but my internet sucks so it doesn’t even want to load that sometimes. FML!!!!
Anyway very cute blog, Becca. We all take things for granted, even if we don’t have much to take for granted. It’s more than what others have & it could be less as well. It’s just best to make sure you’ve told your mom what she means to you & make the best out of every day that goes by.
Today…was a bad day. NOthing exciting happened & I did not make the best of it..but at least I can’t get killed for staying in my own room, right? haha.

Nooope.
Do you ever take things for granted, or realise that you don’t appreciate what you have?
Hrm, kinda answered that, so yes of course. I get taken for granted as well, but I also take my wonderful parents & life for granted. All the time. But I do appreciate what is given to me.

HOW WAS IT!?
I hope you all enjoyed it! I love the feeling of no braces, my teeth are so smooth
I liked the Sims 3, but I like the Sims 2 better. I still play it
YAYE for Disney though! I recently found all my old VHS’s
That’s a really nice list though, I think I should do something like that
Come to Canada too haha. It’s right above the US! I would like to cook dinner for my family, but they have a different taste than me. I would still do it though
I really like the list! I think I should start one soon! There are so many things I take for granted, and I need to appreciate them!

I’ve thought about making one of those lists. It is a really good idea, but I might lack the commitment to do it. The idea of completing 101 things in 1001 days isn’t that exciting, honestly. Perhaps it is just because I’m feeling very apathetic in general today
I do have a tendency to be ungrateful for things in my life. It’s not like I’m intentionally ungrateful, sometimes I just don’t notice little things in my life that I should appreciate. Sometimes living in a place with a broken air conditioner makes you appreciate the one you have at your home. Sometimes going to a third world country and trying to find a restroom makes you appreciate toilet paper xD
I don’t think you cheated with the “visit the USA” and “visit a country outside Europe” thing. I would do something like that
You’re going to New York? I haven’t even been to New York. Have fun!

BECC-Y!! I’ve just come back/alive back in the online world!! Am not sure if I made one of the lists exactly… I just made a bucket list, sort of a list I’d like to do before I die. It doesn’t go as many as 101 or 1001 though but I’ll see!
Yes indeed we are able to reflect when we think about everything. I agree that I’m one of those people who don’t cook for their family. Maybe I will someday. I have to learn to be less selfish
aww LET’S DO THIS BECCA! >:D<

TIFF TO THE KKK <3
I WANT TO SEE YOUR WEBSITE BUT IT'S GIVING ME A GODDAMN SERVER ERROR, so I'm replying here
I was originally going to do a bucket list, but then I saw 101's and realised that by giving myself a deadline, I was more likely to actually complete the tasks.
Yeah, I love cooking though, so I'm doing it not only for my mum, to save her from doing it, but as a personal thing to become better at cooking.
You're not a selfish person! <3

That’s good that you’re doing something to keep you busy! And it’s also good that this list is opening your eyes on a couple of things.
Actually, “Visit the USA” and “Go to a country outside of Europe” are two different items. You could go to France and complete at least one of them, lol.
To answer your questions:
1) I was, but I stopped because I got kind of bored with it, and a lot of my goals were far-fetched for my current position. Like go to England, and France all in one year? Not happeneing.
2) Absolutely. I pay for my own phone, laptop, and iPod Touch, but there are a lot of other things I take for granted: my parents kindness to me, and also a couple of other things my parents give to me everyday.

I haven’t done one, but it’s on my mental list of things to do. haha. I’ve realized moving to Vancouver all the things I took for granted back home. I take food for granted, driving, money, little things basically. I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I know I’d like to improve my baking skills. I love to bake, but I’d like to experiment and what not. I want to be a good cook one day. When I’m old and have grandchildren, I want them to come to my house and anticipate the great cooking of their grandmother. Now, I know that’s a looong way away, but it’s something I think about.

Becca! It has been too long!
Your new layout is beautiful (:
Hope you’ve been alright since we last spoke (: How’d your exams go?
I’d love to do one of those 101 in 1001 things but I just don’t have the required level of commitment to actually complete it! I’d just forget about it haha, I might do one with less on it though… Cos I can do that… Haha.
I definitely take too much for granted though, and I know I shouldn’t. But I am trying to take it less for granted and do more stuff in return because in all honesty I feel quite bad for not doing more for others!

You found a way to kinda cheat the system and get two points for one thing — heck, I don’t blame you. That’s life.
It’s nice to see how you view your life and how you’re happy with everything you have. That makes you NOT spoiled… which, yeah, is a plus. XD
Personally, I usually don’t ask for more in my life. Whenever it’s time for someone to get me a gift, I have to think up something random and stupid. lol

I read the first line of your blog, and it inspired me to post my unfinished 100 Things To Do Before I Die list on my site, so thank you for that. :’)
I don’t think ‘Go to a country outside of Europe’ and ‘Go to the USA’ is cheating, you could always go to like, New Zealand or somewhere haha. But if you did visit the USA, at least it’s two things ticked off the list!
Many people take things for granted, I wouldn’t say it’s being ungrateful though. I do take little things like having meals cooked for me for granted. I enjoy cooking, however I don’t have a knack for doing it on a daily basis, if I did cook for my family every day for a week, they’d stop me on day 2 as my cooking is awful!
Are you currently doing a 101 in 1001 challenge?
Nope, but I’m doing a 100 things to do list haha
Do you ever take things for granted, or realise that you don’t appreciate what you have?
I guess I do, things like getting money from my family, having my mom drop me off at a friends house and just every day stuff like that.

Ha ha, I was going to do something like the list like ’100 things to do before I die’ so I might do that for my next blog
You’ve read the Hunger Games? Liked it?
I think they’re amazing…well, the second book was slightly downhill but the first was WOW
As for the second question, I get the feeling of appreciating what I have when I watch those documentaries on TV like ‘Extraordinary People’ and things like that. But I definitely believe I have a great life and should be happy about it

And I know…school uuggghh =( … I’m nervous. But also...
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo you’re doing a list too!!! (:
I think I used to take things for granted, and it made me very upset that I did, but I’m generally very appreciative of everything and I’ve always expected to get less than I do, which means I’m never disappointed and I’m very grateful for everything.
